Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - The Calgary Flames have named Brian Burke the club's president of hockey operations.

Burke was most recently a part-time scout with the Anaheim Ducks after being fired as the general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs in January. Toronto failed to reach the postseason during his four years at the helm.

The long-time NHL front office veteran has also been in charge of hockey operations with the Hartford Whalers, Vancouver Canucks and Anaheim, winning a Stanley Cup title with the Ducks in the spring of 2007.
