An altercation between a Falcons fan and 49ers fan resulted in a man reportedly being stabbed in the neck following Sunday's NFC Championship Game.
Jason Kirksey, a spokesman for the Georgia Dome, issued this statement to USA TODAY Sports:
"At approximately 6:40 p.m. an altercation occurred in the Silver Parking Lot outside the Georgia Dome after Sunday's NFC Championship Game between the 49ers and Falcons. A 35-year-old male was injured and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
"It is unknown at this time if anyone involved in the altercation attended the game. Georgia World Congress Center Authority Police Department in conjunction with the Atlanta Police Department are investigating the incident.
"No other information is available at this time."
Though the statement wouldn't go into detail, according to a report from WSB-TV in Atlanta, a man was stabbed in the neck.
A witness told the TV station that the Falcons fan, angry over the 28-24 loss, started an argument with the 49ers fan outside of the Georgia Dome. According to the witness, the argument became violent when the Falcons fan punched the 49ers fan, who then pulled out a knife. One of the men was stabbed in the throat area, though it was unknown who.
