Springfield, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Missouri State University will play five
home games and visit Oklahoma State in 2014 as part of a 12-game schedule
The Bears are coming off a 5-7 season, but 5-3 in the Missouri Valley Football
Conference, under coach Terry Allen, who is entering his ninth season.
Missouri State's home games are against North Dakota (Sept. 13) from the Big
Sky Conference as well as Missouri Valley opponents Youngstown State (Oct. 4),
South Dakota (Oct. 18, Homecoming), Southern Illinois (Nov. 8) and North Dakota
State (Nov. 15), the three-time reigning FCS national champion.
The Bears will open the season on Aug. 28 at Northwestern State before
traveling to Oklahoma State for a Sept. 6 meeting. Their final non-conference
game will be at Central Arkansas on Sept. 20.
Within Missouri Valley play, the Bears will have road games against South
Dakota State (Oct. 11), Illinois State (Oct. 25), Indiana State (Nov. 1) and
Northern Iowa (Nov. 22).
"I think our schedule presents a number of opportunities for us," Allen said.
"In the non-conference, we'll have a brand-new opponent coming to Plaster for
our home opener with North Dakota, and we'll have a chance to play UCA and
Northwestern State again at their place. Oklahoma State has obviously been a
traditional power in the Big 12 and had a great showing in the Cotton Bowl this
year. All those games should get us ready for the Valley season, which is where
we feel we can build on the successes we had last year and continue to compete
in the upper division of our league."
