Green Bay, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Aaron poured in a game-high 28
points, as the fifth-seeded Milwaukee Panthers upset the No. 1 seed Green Bay
Phoenix in overtime, 73-66, in the Horizon League Tournament at the Resch
Aaron shot 4-of-8 from 3-point range and 6-of-7 at the foul line for Milwaukee
(20-13), which also beat Green Bay at the Resch Center on Feb. 8 (73-63). Matt
Tiby tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds, Kyle Kelm and Austin Arians netted 14
and 12 points, respectively, and Steve McWhorter also hauled in 10 boards.
The Panthers will take on Wright State in the championship game on Tuesday.
Greg Mays logged 17 points and nine boards for Green Bay (24-6), which will
wait and see if its resume is strong enough for an at-large bid to the NCAA
Tournament. Keifer Sykes chipped in 15 points for the hosts, while Carrington
Love scored 12.
Milwaukee shot only 39.4 percent from the field in the first half, but Green
Bay was even worse a mere 22.2 percent, as the Panthers carried a 28-19 lead
The Phoenix battled back in the second half and held a four-point lead with
1:15 left, but the Panthers answered with four straight points to close out
regulation, capped off by an Aaron layup with 13 seconds to play to tie it up.
Mays missed a jumper in the waning seconds and the game went to overtime.
Milwaukee never trailed in the extra session and pulled away with a 5-0 run.
The Panthers sealed their fate by shooting 6-of-6 at the free-throw line over
the final 18 seconds.
Green Bay, which came into the contest shooting 47.8 percent from the field on
the season, netted a mere 35 percent of its tries on the evening.
