Green Bay, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Aaron scored 20 points on 6-of-18
shooting as the fifth-seeded Milwaukee Panthers cruised past the fourth-seeded
Valparaiso Crusaders, 74-57, in a second-round Horizon League Tournament
matchup at Resch Center.
Matt Tiby contributed 18 points, going 11-of-11 from the free-throw line and
adding seven rebounds for Milwaukee (19-13), which will advance to Saturday's
Horizon League semifinal to take on the top-seeded Green Bay Phoenix. Austin
Arians netted 13 points, and Kyle Kelm scored 10 points with six rebounds in
Alec Peters scored 18 points with five rebounds to lead Valparaiso (18-15),
which had its hopes of repeating as Horizon League champions dashed. LaVonte
Dority chipped in 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting in the loss, which was the
third in the Crusaders' final four games.
Milwaukee connected on 30.6 percent of its field goal tries in the first half,
including 5-of-14 from 3-point distance, and took a 31-22 lead into the
intermission. Valpo shot 41.2 percent from the floor in the frame, but went
just 1-of-6 from 3-point range.
The Panthers improved to 50 percent shooting in the second half, and hit 24-
of-27 from the free-throw line. The Crusaders made 54.5 percent of their shots
from the field in the period, but were outscored by Milwaukee from the free-
throw line, 24-6. Valpo, after being down by nine at the end of the first
half, fell behind by another eight points by the time the final buzzer
Milwaukee had a 14-0 advantage in second chance points, and outscored Valpo
from the free-throw line, 28-13. The Crusaders had the edge in bench points,
