Jacksonville, AL (Sports Network) - Tarvin Gaines poured in 28 points to pace
the Gamecocks as Jacksonville State defeated the Austin Peay Governors, 81-74,
in an Ohio Valley Conference tilt at Pete Mathews Coliseum.
Brian Williams added 17 points and eight assists for JSU (13-7, 5-4 OVC),
while Ronnie Boggs filled up the stat sheet with 16 points, seven rebounds,
seven steals, and four assists. The victory ended the Gamecocks' brief two-
game losing slide.
Travis Betran and Chris Horton scored 18 points each for Austin Peay (5-16,
1-6) in the team's third consecutive setback. Horton also pulled down 10
boards while Will Triggs netted 16 points and Anthony Campbell contributed 13
points to go along with five assists.
The Gamecocks took a 37-26 lead into the intermission after they shot 50
percent from the field including a 4-of-8 mark from beyond the arc. Austin

APSU held a 33-22 edge in the rebounding battle, but it was not enough to
overcome its 17 turnovers which the Gamecocks converted into 24 points.
