Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Alejandro De Aza hit a tie-breaking
sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to help lift the Chicago White
Sox over the Kansas City Royals, 3-2, in the second test of a three-game
series at Kauffman Stadium.
Dayan Viciedo started the ninth with a single to center off Aaron Crow (3-3)
and was replaced by pinch-runner Jordan Danks. Jeff Keppinger drew a walk and
Danks advanced to third on a Gordon Beckham fly out. Right fielder Jeff
Francoeur's throw home was off target and allowed Danks to score the winning
run on De Aza's clutch hit.
The Royals had a chance to plate a run in the eighth with runners on second
and third with two outs but Jesse Crain (2-1) was able to get Lorenzo Cain to
strike out to escape the jam. Addison Reed faced the minimum in the ninth to
collect his 21st save of the year.
Keppinger had his second three-hit game of the season, going 3-for-3 with a
run batted in while Conor Gillaspie collected the other RBI.
