Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - In his Dodger debut, Zack Grienke impressed
with 6 1/3 shutout innings and Los Angeles took a 3-0 victory over the
Pittsburgh Pirates in the opener of a three-game set.
Grienke (1-0) signed a six-year, $147 million dollar contract this past
offseason with Los Angeles and lived up to expectations in his first start,
allowing just two hits and striking out six.
Andre Ethier hit a solo home run while Matt Kemp and Adrian Gonzalez each had
RBI doubles for the Dodgers, who had dropped two of three to San Francisco in
their season opening series.
Brandon League pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to pick up his first save of the season.
The Pirates, who had just six runs and 13 hits in their opening series against
the Cubs, managed just two hits on Friday.
Andrew McCutchen and Garrett Jones each had a single and Jonathan Sanchez
(0-1) was saddled with the loss after surrendering all three runs on six hits
in five-plus innings of work.
