MILLEDGEVILLE - In great battle of two unbeaten teams, Georgia Military College defeated defending national champion #2 Iowa Western CC 48-38 on a windy but sunny day. The game started on a GMC mishandling of the opening kickoff which gave IWCC the ball inside GMC's 20. A quick TD put the Rievers up 7-0. GMC answered with a lengthy drive that stalled and forced a 35 yard FG to tighten the game at 7-3. IWCC answered the field goal with one of their own, but then GMC caught fire ripping off 17 unanswered points to take a 20-10 halftime lead.
IWCC returned the favor on the opening kickoff of the second half, fumbling the return and having the fumble returned by GMC to open the lead to 27-10. GMC added another touchdown in the third to extend the lead to 34-10, but IWCC would not back down. Both offenses caught fire in the 4th quarter, with 42 total points scored, but GMC was left standing at the bell with a hard fought 48-38 win.
GMC Freshman Jovon Robinson, the leading rusher in the nation, had another big day, going for well over 200 yards on the ground and a pair of touchdowns.
