MACON -- Tuesday night, the Rutland Hurricanes will put their off-season work to the test in a scrimmage with Warner Robins. The 'Canes are looking to improve on a 3-7 record in 2012 that kept them out of the playoffs.
Last year's senior class saw six players sign to play college ball. Now, head coach George Collins has to replace them. That includes a new face at quarterback and fill three spots on the offensive line.
"It looks like we may actually have more depth than we've had before at the offensive line," said Collins. "So, you know that's pleasing."
The new signal caller is Timori Northcutt.
"We felt like we had skill people, we felt good there," explained Collins. "Timori Northcutt has done a good job at quarterback filling in for the senior. We're pleased with where things are going."
Rutland opens the season on August 30 against Southwest.
