(School Release) -- Paul Knight has been hired as the new head baseball coach at
Middle Georgia State College as the institution enters the first full year in
Knight comes to MGSC with 11 years of experience as a head
baseball coach at Lenoir-Rhyne University and Florida Tech, both in NCAA
Division II. He has recruited and coached multiple major league,
All-Conference, and All-American players over his career and his teams have set
multiple school and conference records. His teams have set records for
individual and career homeruns, team earned run average (ERA), batting average,
and on-base percentage among others.
Before becoming a head coach he spent six years as an associate
head coach at Wingate University and two years as graduate assistant with the
University of Richmond, reaching the NCAA Regionals once with each program.
Coach Knight graduated from Methodist College in 1994 with a Bachelor
of Science degree in computer science before earning his Masters in sports
management from Richmond in 1996. As a player for Methodist, Knight
was part of two NCAA Division III World Series Teams.
Knight was born in Huntington, Long Island, NY and raised in
Montvale, NJ. His family includes his wife, Kirsten, his son, Tyler (6),
and daughter, Kaylee (3 months).
Coach Knight is excited to join the historical program at MGSC in
its inaugural year as a consolidated institution. "I would like to thank

wonderful opportunity. Middle Georgia baseball
has an incredible history of success and I am very proud to be a part of it. I
am looking forward to meeting the team and all the supporters of the baseball
program," said Knight of the program.
