FORT VALLEY, Ga. (School Release)--For the second consecutive week, Fort Valley State University (FVSU) punter and placekicker Justin Rosenbaum has been named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Special Teams Player of the Week. After a 33-10 win over Benedict College on Saturday (Sept. 22nd), Rosenbaum is joined on this week's conference selection by teammate David Garbo who was named SIAC Offensive Lineman of the Week.
Both were singled out for conference honors for their performances against the Tigers. Rosenbaum, a senior from Owosso, MI, was a perfect two of two in field goal attempts by connecting on a 47-yarder for the game's opening score and finishing the game's scoring on a 38 yard effort late in the fourth quarter. As a punter, on six attempts he averaged 42.7 yards. His longest punt was a 57 yard boot. He landed one punt inside Benedict's 20 yard line and had one touchback.
Garbo, a senior from Quitman, GA, was tapped with the weekly distinction for his effort as the center for FVSU. He anchored a Wildcat offensive line which accounted for 306 yards of total offense. He rated out at 94% in blocking execution against the Tigers.
