BRASELTON, Ga. (School Release)- Despite the best efforts from junior Hans Reimers, the Mercer men's golf team slipped to sixth place in Monday's second round of the Atlantic Sun Championship after posting 312 at The Legends Course of Chateau Elan.  Individually, Reimers posted a 73 (+1) to jump into a tie for eighth place.

Mercer's 312 paired with an opening round 308, dropping the team two strokes behind Northern Kentucky.  The Bears will begin Tuesday's final round four strokes up on Florida Gulf Coast and Lipscomb, who are tied for seventh place at 624.

North Florida shot 301, but saw its nine-stroke lead trimmed to one after Kennesaw State registered a 293, marking the day's lowest team total.  East Tennessee State is third at 603 (301-302), while Jacksonville is fourth at 613 (301-312) and Northern Kentucky is fifth at 618 (314-304)

Reimers was one of six players to shoot 73 or better on a day that saw windy conditions continue to test the field.  His 73 was a three-stroke improvement on his day one total and places him six strokes short of tying Kennesaw State's Austin Vick for the tournament lead.

Junior James Beale is tied for 22nd place individually after following Sunday's 75 with an 81.  Freshman Jeffrey Heinicka fired a 78 and is tied for 27th with a 36-hole total of 157.  Sophomore Trey Rule posted a 35 (-1) on the back nine to rebound from a 45 on the front nine.  His 80 combines with a Sunday 78 and positions him 32nd.   Senior John Gregory Joseph rounded out Mercer's competitors with an 83 and is tied for 40th at 162 (79-83).

The final round of competition is scheduled for an 8 a.m. start on Tuesday.
