The Mercer Bears made it safely back to Macon after a second-round NIT loss to BYU Monday night.
Mercer fought back several times, but could not hold off the Cougars who went 10 of 24 from behind the three-point line.
"We made two great runs, back at them. Couldn't get a rebound. They hit threes on both occasions, but our guys really stood the test in the midest of that in a tough environment. It was a tough way to end the season, but those guys have had a fantastic year," said head coach Bob Hoffman.
Hoffman shared what he told the players after the game.
"I talked about the seniors and I thanked them for everything they've done. Chris and Travis and the staff, Johnny Clark who's leaving us as a graduate assistant. Just thanking everyone that had a part in what we were able to accomplish.
"I reminded them that several years from now you'll look back and know that you had a special year."
