Mercer gets a chance on the conference tournament stage this weekend.  The women finished out the regular season 19-10(13-5 Atlantic Sun).  The Bears are the third seed and will face Jacksonville on Thursday at noon.

The Bears went on the road to wrap up their schedule at two of the top teams in the league:  Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson.  Mercer dropped both of those games.

"We have improved," said head coach Susie Gardner. "We played those teams the very first weekend of conference play and that was kind of our barometer as to, was that 12-game winning streak just a fluk or have we really gotten better as a problem?  Collectively, as a program we've gotten so much better."

For most of the players, this is their first trip to the Atlantic Sun Tournament.

"It's pretty big," said junior guard Sharnea Boykin.  "I feel like we have a whole new focus.  Me, personally, I have a whole new focus about everything now.  I just feel like it's a new season."

(3) Mercer plays (6) Jacksonville Thursday at noon.  Winner moves on to face (2) Stetson or (7) East Tennessee State.
