The Mercer women's basketball team has two more home games for the year.
Saturday afternoon they will welcome Atlantic Sun Conference newcomer Northern Kentucky to Hawkins Arena.
In the meeting before practice Thursday, head coach Susie Gardner talked to her squad about the importance of finishing the season strong going into the Atlantic Sun tournament next month.
The women are currently enjoying a 12 game winning streak.
To get to lucky number 13, Mercer will depend heavily on junior Sharnea Boykin.
She ranks third in the country amongst all division one teams averaging 7.5 assists a game.
She also ranks sixth in the nation with her assist to turnover ratio.
"It's really a blessing to be so high in the nation, to be an assist leader, and I've got to thank my teammates. Without them I wouldn't have an assist," Boykin said with a smile. "I love my team. It's not all about the assists. We have to play as a complete team, and that's what we've been doing this year. We're playing more together. We've found something that's working, and we're going to stick with it."
Boykin didn't play much last year because she suffered a concussion.
Coach Gardner called her starting point guard a huge influence on their success this year.
