MACON, Ga. (School Release)- Sophomore Caroline Carlton led the Mercer offense with 13 kills in the volleyball team's 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-21) loss to North Florida on Saturday afternoon at Hawkins Arena.
North Florida moved to 16-11 (7-7 A-Sun) with the win while the Bears slipped to 9-15 (5-9 A-Sun) with the loss.
Carlton's 13 kills came on 27 swings with only five errors as she led the team in hitting percentage (.296) for the seventh time this season. Freshman Molly Locke wasn't far behind, booking a .200 hitting percentage with 12 kills and four errors on 40 attempts.
Senior Monica Sanchez registered her eighth double-double of the year with 30 assists and 11 digs, while junior Emily Rochefort collected 21 digs to push her season total to 472. With four matches remaining, she stands just 29 digs shy of breaking into the top five single-season dig leaders in program history.
In the first set, Mercer held a 12-8 advantage before the visitors ripped off six-straight points to assume the lead. In the second set, the teams were deadlocked in a 22-22 tie before the Ospreys finished the frame on a 3-1 run.
In the final set, the scoreboard reflected a 15-15 tie when North Florida put together six-straight points to take control.
Senior Jamie Duffy reached double-figure digs for the 12th time in the last 13 matches, collecting 15 in the loss.
The Bears return to action at Northern Kentucky on November 2. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
