ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves announced Monday that third-base coach Brian Snitker has been named the manager of the Gwinnett Braves, Atlanta's Triple-A affiliate.

Doug Dascenzo will replace Snitker as third-base coach for the big league Braves.

A Braves news release did not say why Snitker and Dascenzo were reassigned.

The Braves said their other coaches -- bench coach Carlos Tosca, pitching coach Roger McDowell, hitting coach Greg Walker, first-base coach Terry Pendleton and bullpen coach Eddie Perez -- will continue in their roles next season.

Last season, Dascenzo served as the Braves' minor league roving outfield/baserunning instructor. He formerly managed in the Padres' system.

After seven seasons as Atlanta's third-base coach, and 11 overall in three stints on the Braves' major-league coaching staff, Snitker moves back to managing. He last managed at Triple-A Richmond in 2006.

Snitker served as the manager of the Macon Braves club in 1992 and again in 1997 and 1998.

The Macon Braves moved to Rome, Ga. after the 2002 baseball season.

Snitker, 57, joined the organization as a player in 1977 and has been with the Braves in a variety of roles. He started managing in 1982.

In his 17 seasons as a manager, his win-loss record is 1,140 - 1,145 (.499).
