ATLANTA (AP) - Metro Atlanta's public transit system plans to display one of its new buses at the Five Points station downtown.
The bus will be on display from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, with top MARTA officials on hand for a welcome ceremony from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. MARTA says the new buses are equipped with features to improve reliability and customer satisfaction.
MARTA has ordered 88 buses to replace older ones that are being retired. They include eight 30-foot buses and 80 40-foot buses. All the new buses are powered by compressed natural gas, which is meant to burn cleaner.
The new buses are part of a total order of 265 new buses to be purchased over the next three years.
