ELLENWOOD, Ga. (AP) - Police say an 18-month-old DeKalb County girl was found safe behind an abandoned home about four hours after she was reported missing.
Media reports say the girl was found shortly after midnight Wednesday not far from her home in Ellenwood. She had been reported missing around 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say they don't believe the girl wandered away from her home on her own. Investigators were interviewing family members and witnesses to try to determine how the girl ended up behind the abandoned home.
The toddler appeared unharmed, but she was taken to a hospital as a precaution. Authorities said the girl would be put in the care of the Department of Families and Children until police figure out what happened.
