ATLANTA (AP) - The Atlanta Police Department is set to swear in 28 new police officers.
The new class of officers is scheduled to be sworn in Thursday afternoon at the Atlanta Police Training Academy.
The ceremony marks the end of 12 weeks of training at the academy. That training includes classroom instruction in constitutional law, local and state laws, Atlanta Police Department policy and procedure, hands-on defensive tactics, arrest techniques and daily physical fitness.
The Atlanta Police Department has more than 2,000 sworn officers, which makes it the largest law enforcement agency in Georgia.
