CANTON, Ga. (AP) - Cherokee County sheriff's officials say the third man accused in a carjacking that led to a fatal shooting has been arrested.
Sheriff's spokesman Jay Baker says 20-year-old Maurice Perkins of Gary, Ind. was arrested there Saturday during a traffic stop. Authorities say Perkins and 19-year-old Jumar Green of Acworth, Ga. were involved in a carjacking that led to the death of their alleged accomplice, 27-year-old Andre Rodriguez.
Police have said Rodriguez was driving the stolen car and was fatally shot while the victim was pistol-whipped in the backseat.
Rodriguez was pronounced dead on the scene and Greer was arrested after being treated for minor injuries after the car crashed.
Baker says the men are charged with murder, kidnapping with bodily injury and aggravated assault. It's unclear if they have attorneys.
