First lady Michelle Obama is confident there will be a female president in her lifetime - it just won't be her.
When Parade magazine asked Obama whether she would ever run to succeed her husband, she had a one-word answer: "No."
She was more equivocal when asked about the prospects of another prominent woman, former secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
"She hasn't announced anything," Obama said, "so I'm certainly not going to get ahead of her."
Overall, however, the United States is "ready" for a female president, the first lady told Parade: "It's just a question of who's the best person out there."
