WASHINGTON (AP) - You can add distrust to the list of stumbling blocks standing in the way of an immigration overhaul in the House.

Many conservatives say that they don't trust President Barack Obama to implement any law they pass. And they say that makes them wary of acting on the touchy subject of immigration.

Their view has grown more acute since Obama's decision to postpone for a year a requirement making employers provide health insurance to their workers.

Some supporters of an immigration overhaul dismiss such concerns as excuses offered by people who simply don't want to act. But many Republicans say their suspicions are valid - noting that even before Obama took office the government had a checkered record of implementing immigration laws.
