WASHINGTON (AP) - The accomplishments are few, the chaos plentiful in the 113th Congress. It's been a discourteous model of divided government - and now lawmakers are going home for a five-week break.
As senators milled about noisily this week, Democratic leader Harry Reid blurted out, "Have senators sit down and shut up, OK?"
Across the Capitol, internal dissent among Republicans nearly toppled House Speaker John Boehner in January. And the GOP leadership's grip is no surer now.
The next big battle is over the budget, the nation's debt limit and the possibility of at least a partial government shutdown.
But that's a struggle for after vacation.
