Palm Harbor, Florida (WTSP) -- A deputy wrangled a 10-foot alligator after making a surprise appearance outside a Bay area business on Tuesday morning.

Pinellas County Deputy Jeff Crandall was first on scene to find the gator in the area of Woodlands Parkway in Palm Harbor, right outside an Achieva Bank.

The deputy tells us the gator was wandering into the road, so he grabbed a rope and tied him up. It wasn't Deputy Crandall's first reptilian confrontation; he wrangled a gator back when he first started working for the Sheriff's Office about 15 years ago.

Florida Fish and Wildlife was called in to pick up the gator.

We're told it will be put down.
