Melbourne, FL (Florida Today) -- A Florida Institute of Technology student is accused of detonating a homemade bomb at the school, a device the student said he learned how to make by watching the Discovery Channel TV show "MythBusters."

No one was injured in the early Sunday incident, police said.

At about 12:20 a.m., Melbourne police were called to the school at 150 W. University Boulevard.

"The ensuing investigation revealed that Christian Barnes Duke, age 19, possessed a destructive device that he made from common household chemicals and items," a press release from Melbourne police says. Duke allegedly used the items to create a chemical reaction inside a "container," which will explode as pressure and heat builds.

"Duke placed this device in a stairwell within the school dorm and detonated the device, causing a loud blast that disrupted other students who were in the building at the time," the news release says.

Duke is charged with two felony counts: possessing a destructive device on school property and making, possessing, placing and discharging a destructive device.
