Mayor Chuck Shaheen says the Warner Robins concert and fireworks have been postponed and rescheduled for Sunday night because of today's rains.
On Eyewitness News at 5, we saw Shaheen huddling with concert organizers at McConnell-Talbert Stadium right before he announced the decision.
Shaheen said everyone agreed it would be a public safety hazard if the event were held tonight.
Until late in the afternoon, set-up for the concert continued in the heavy rain while officials held onto hope for a break in the weather.
But 13WMAZ Chief Meteorologist Ben Jones said heavy rain and wind were likely tonight. When organizers learned of the outlook, they made the decision to postpone the event.
On Sunday, gates will open at 6 p.m. and the concert is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Fireworks should start up around 10.
