A Warner Robins teen is now home from the hospital after a dune buggy accident that killed a friend.
Joshua Ryals, 17, answered the door at his family home Monday morning. That was just one day after the Houston County Sheriff's Department reported that he was in critical condition at a local hospital.
He was wearing a cast and told 13WMAZ's Tom George that he was feeling better, but said he faces a long recovery. A family member interrupted the interview and told him not to speak any further.
A 16-year-old Warner Robins girl was fatally injured in the Friday accident.
The Houston County Sheriff's Office said the girl, Theresa Bridges, died of her injuries at a hospital.
A news release said Ryals, 17, lost control of the vehicle while turning too quickly from North Davis Drive onto Minick Street. It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Ryals and Bridges were thrown from the vehicle.
Ryals will face charges in the case, according to sheriff's Corporal Sean Alexander.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor, the news release said.
The teens were riding in a 2006 China-Joyner all-terrain vehicle.
The teens were not using seat belts, the news release said.
Correction: An earlier version of the story gave the wrong day for the accident.
