The Macon chapter of the NAACP plans to march almost 2.5 miles Saturday.
The march will remember Sammie Davis Junior, who was shot and killed by a Macon police officer outside a grocery store in December.
Bibb District Attorney David Cooke and a police shooting review board cleared officer Clayton Sutton of any criminal and procedural wrongdoings, but Gwenette Westbrooks, local NAACP president, says there are some who disagree.
"The election is coming up, and there are a lot of people that are unhappy with the Sammie Davis Junior case," she says. "We have a lot of changes that need to be made in our community, so we decided to do the rally to promote voter registration also."
The group will start at the the Kroger where Davis was shot on Pio Nono Avenue at 10:30 Saturday morning.
A prayer service will be held in front of city hall followed by a voter registration event at Tattnall Square Park.
