This year's Warner Robins mayor's race has its first official candidate.

Clergyman and former firefighter Randy Toms made his announcement Wednesday morning.

Toms says he served in the Air Force before joining the Warner Robins Fire Department nearly 30 years ago. He says his campaign is focused on supporting Robins Air Force Base, the city's senior citizens, and the people who keep them safe.

"Warner Robins deserves a mayor who will work with our city employees -- all of our city employees, to include our public safety professionals, our police officers and firefighters -- so that our families and business are truly served and truly protected," Toms said during his announcement.

The city election is in November and qualifying starts in August.

So far, Mayor Chuck Shaheen hasn't said whether he'll seek a second term and no other candidates have stepped up.
