Hundreds of volunteers got together in Macon Saturday to help rebuild homes for the disabled and elderly. It was all part of Rebuild Macon Day.
13WMAZ went to a house on Ward Street where 50 volunteers with Rebuilding Macon freshened up the house.
"It's getting a brand new kitchen floor. We have found three levels of old floor, and it's getting an exterior paint job and it's getting a building torn down in the back," said Debra Rollins, Executive Director, Rebuilding Macon.
Bernice Patmon, the homeowner, says she has lived in her home off and on her whole life and she is so grateful that this is being done.
"My parents would be proud of it because it was their home first and I have lived here all of my life and I've tried to take care of it and it encourages me to try to stay here as long as I can," said Patmon.
