The lawyer for a former probation officer accused of killing his girlfriend wants his case tried outside Houston County.
Russell Holt's attorney made the request this morning in a motion hearing in Houston County superior court.
Holt is accused of shooting 27-year-old Jessica Wolfe to death last year.
Today, defense lawyer Franklin Hogue and prosecutors are discussing issues in the case. They include Hogue's argument that Holt can't get a fair trial in Central Georgia due to publicity in the case.
So far, Judge Tillman Self has not ruled on that motion.
Hogue also asked the judge to throw out all of Holt's statements to law enforcement about the case. He said police violated Holt's Fifth Amendment rights because he repeatedly asked to have a lawyer present.
Jennifer Moulliet is in the courtroom and will have more on the case on Eyewitness News at 5 and 6 p.m.
