While many college basketball teams across the country anxiously sat in front of their televisions waiting to hear their name called for the NCAA Tournament on 'Selection Sunday,' the Mercer University men's basketball team had their sights set elsewhere.
Mercer's hopes of a bid to the 'Big Dance' were dashed after an A-Sun Championship loss to Florida Gulf Coast last week.
However, with their regular season conference title, the show goes on for the Bears.
Sunday, the 23-11 Bears were given a #7 seed in the 2013 Postseason National Invitation Tournament. That means they'll face the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
The Vols are 20-12 on the year with a 6th place finish in the SEC for regular season.
The 'Orange and Black' are no strangers to postseason play outside the tournament field of 68. Last season, Coach Bob Hoffman guided his bunch to the CollegeInsider.com championship after defeating five schools including the title game with Utah State.
