Macon council member Henry Ficklin says he and Lonnie Miley took their proposal for a city council pension plan off the agenda.
Ficklin says the proposed ordinance stirred too much controversy "before the ink even dried."
Their plan would give council members with at least ten years experience $25 a month for each year they served.
Miley told 13WMAZ both he and Ficklin would have qualified, because the ordinance did not specify the terms had to be consecutive.
Four others, Ed DeFore, Elaine Lucas, James Timley, and Henry Gibson would have also met the pension requirements.
Ficklin says there are no plans to revive the proposed council pension at a later date.
