A South Georgia police chief is in serious condition today after a single-car accident on I-75 Sunday night.
Justin Rutherford, police chief for Sycamore, was traveling northbound on I-75 in a police car when he approached a car in the left lane going significantly slower. He was in Tift County about a half-mile from the Turner County line.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, he swerved right to avoid hitting the vehicle but then lost control.

He was flown to the Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he was in serious condition Monday morning.
