Macon police made two arrests on Halloween in the shooting death of 55-year-old Gwendolyn Cole, more than four years after it happened.

According to a news release, around 10 p.m. on February 4, 2008, Cole was shot when she answered the front door of her home.

Investigators say the shooters fired more than 70 rounds at Cole with an assault rifle. The bullets hit Cole in the torso and arms. She died the following day from multiple gun shot wounds.

Wednesday police arrested 33-year-old Marlon Shurell Jackson and 35-year-old Benjamin Leronne Finney with signed murder warrants.

Jackson was in Bibb County jail and Finney was in the Jones County jail on unrelated charges.

"Good job by investigator David Patterson,"said Macon Police Chief Mike Burns.   Capt. Jimmy Barbee said Patterson was determined to solve the case from the beginning.

"MPD investigators don't quit. Every case is important to them, and they follow every lead in order to bring suspects to justice, no matter how long it takes."

Barbee says there are still dozens of cold cases in the city of Macon, and the public are always encouraged to give any information.
