Russell Henley, at the 2011 U.S. Open.
For the first time in his heralded career, Macon native Russ Henley will enter a golf tournament as a pro.
Along with the status change is a an opportunity to play for the cash prizes.
This last weekend in September, Henley will be playing in the Nationwide Soboba Golf Classic in California.
The UGA grad recieved a sponsor's exemption, and found out that he was accepted into the tournament over the weekend while he was in Scotland for the Walker Cup.
While at home preparing to turn pro, Henley talked about his latest venture in his career.
"It definetly feels different already," says Henley. "So it will definetly be the same mentality. Im not gonna try and do more or less because Im a pro. Im just gonna try and play golf because thats what brought me here."
Henley plans to enter the second stage of qualifying school in November. Henley won the Stadion Classic, another Nationwide event this past May in Athens.
