Spring weather is in full swing, and you may be looking for a place close to home to take the family for a one day getaway. In this week's Get Answers, we show you two places that may interest you.

Mika Parker sent us a question asking, "Where can I find a park in Macon that is surrounded by a lake and has pavilions?"

This week we explore two parks that offer family friendly activities. Claystone Park at Lake Tobesofkee is open year round and Doug Furney, Director of Recreation says it offers a little bit of everything. "We have a camping area, a boat ramp, a large beach area that has a playground on the beach for the little kids." We have picnic areas we have shelters that can be rented out and a large pavilion that can be rented out," says Furney.

The picnic areas come with grills and are scattered around the park. Furney says as the temperature rises so does attendance at the park. "If the weather is nice people come out and March the weather was fantastic and it's continued to be the same in April and if it stays like this, we'll have a better year than we had last year."

Admission to Claystone is $3 per person and children under six get in free.

Amerson Water Works Park, off of North Pierce Avenue also offers activities for a day adventure, and it's free. "It's a hundred and eighty acre park open to the public Wednesday through Sunday from 9am to 7pm," says Kris Hattaway of New Town Macon.

She says the park has the only handicap usable playground from Atlanta to Valdosta. "We also have a canoe launch you can put in at Amerson Water Works Park your canoe your kayak your tubes, non motorized boats it's about a two to three hour float you can get out at the Spring Street Landing on the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail," says Hattaway.

The park's newest addition, the Porter Pavilion, lets you gather with friends and family right next to the Ocmulgee River.
