MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) -- A Marietta mother whose child was killed by a motorist while crossing the street has been convicted of vehicular homicide.
Attorney David Savoy says his client, 30-year-old Raquel Nelson, could be sentenced to up to 3 years on July 26.
Savoy says his client was convicted in Cobb County State Court of homicide by vehicle in the second degree, crossing roadway elsewhere than at crosswalk and reckless conduct.
Savoy says Nelson was attempting to cross a street with her three children when her 4-year-old son was struck by a car.
Nelson said earlier that the family was waiting at a median for traffic to clear when the 4-year-old, A.J., ran into the street.
Nelson and her younger daughter suffered minor injuries and her older daughter was not injured.
