A man barricaded himself inside a Milledgeville house and held a female hostage for nearly five hours before freeing her unharmed and surrendering, according to Milledgeville police.
Captain Dray Swicord says 21-year-old Robert Allen Marchione is charged with terroristic threats, reckless conduct, false imprisonment and unlawful possession of an article with an altered serial number (weapon).
According to a news release, Milledgeville police received a call around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, alerting them there was a man with a gun at 732 Matheson Road and that shots had been fired.
The release says when police arrived, they were advised that 21-year-old Robert Allen Marchione was barricaded in the house with a female hostage.
Swicord says three roommates got out of the house before Marchione took one of their girlfriends hostage.
He says they are all about the same age.
Swicord says about nine shots were fired but no one was hurt.
Milledgeville Police, the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, and the Georgia State Patrol SWAT team rushed to the scene.
Around 7:15 a.m Sunday, the press release says, Marchione released the hostage unharmed and surrendered.
The hostage was treated on the scene by EMS and released.
Marchione was taken to the Oconee Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.
