The temperature isn't the only thing rising early this summer.
In fact, if you live in Macon, you might just have to get up a bit earlier than usual if you want your garbage picked up.
That's because the city's public works department started its summer schedule today, July 1.
Officials say the new 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. schedule will help keep their workers safe in the excessive heat.
With the July 4th holiday, there is no garbage pickup on Thursday, but the city will resume collections Friday.
