Doug Furney, the Director of Tobesofkee Recreation, said they expect a lot of boaters to come to Lake Tobesofkee Memorial Day Weekend.

Furney said they want to make sure people know the new rules, like no child under 13 years old can be on a boat without a life vest on.

"If we see kids on board a vessel, we'll stop to make sure that they are wearing their life jackets," said Furney. "That the kids that are under age are wearing them and we will check that everybody on board has one and it's accessible."

Furney said holiday boaters should also be aware of traffic on the lake.

"There are going to be boats all around them so you can't just be looking ahead or you can't just be looking at that skier you've got to look to see what's coming to your left and to your right you have got to be aware of all your surroundings at all times," said Furney.
