Donors stepped up to the plate for a charity that many of you are familiar with.
Staff and volunteers with the United Way say their annual fundraiser was a huge success.
United Way of Central Georgia raised over four million dollars in the 2012 campaign.
"For us to have done that in middle Georgia given all the uncertainties that exist in our community today, my hat is off to those who stepped up and gave," says Dan Forrester of State Bank & Trust.
The organization raised money for 33 local health and human services groups.
Hundreds of organization leaders gathered at the convention center at the Centreplex for a luncheon sponsored by State Bank & Trust.
"You would never think to call on united way, but have that need and we respond. The American Red Cross is a great example," says Forrester.
More than one million dollars was also raised in the combined federal campaign which is the annual fundraiser for local charities.
For the ninth straight year, GEICO was United Way of Central Georgia's top contributor.
GEICO and its associates pledged over $900,000.
The money will be allocated to 33 organizations and 52 programs.
United Way starts its 2013 annual campaign in September.
