A Wilkinson County teacher accused of molesting a student was sent back to jail without bond after a court appearance today.
Cornelius Dante Jones was arrested Monday and appeared before a magistrate judge Tuesday.
The charges against him include child molestation, aggravated child molestation, sexual assault and aggravated sodomy.
Magistrate Vivian Cummings read the charges against Jones and said he could not get bond until the case is turned over to superior court.
After the brief hearing, Sheriff Richard Chatman said Jones is accused of inappropriate contact with a 15-year-old girl.
He said video surveillance camera inside Jones' classroom captured some of the contact during several meetings between the two.
He said it began as kissing and hugging, but progressed to oral sex on Jan. 22.
Chatman said Jones, 29, is in his second year as a math teacher at Wilkinson County High.
He said Jones is married with children.
Despite rumors around town, Chatman said no other teachers are under investigation. He said GBI agents visited the school Monday night to collect evidence in the case.
