Macon Mayor Robert Reichert has appointed Judd Drake as the interim city attorney.

Public Affairs Director Chris Floore told 13WMAZ that Drake has been serving as Macon's senior assistant city attorney under Martha "Marty" Welsh.

Welsh announced in late October that she would be resigning her post as city attorney to move to North Carolina and spend more time with her family.

Floore said Drake is from Candler County and a graduate of Mercer University law graduate.

When asked what would become of the city attorney's position under a consolidated government, Floore said, "That has yet to be determined. Same as with other departments, there will be an organizational chart developed and reviewed by the task force."
