The Macon Police Department brought in officials this week to evaluate their procedures and effectiveness.
It's part of their re-accredidation process, and Monday night community members got the chance to give their input.
The department passed their last inspection in 2009, keeping them on the list of top police forces in the nation, according to the Coalition of Accredited Law Enforcement Agencies.
The evaluators will spend time with all of the departments over the next few weeks making sure they comply with all of their policies.
They say one of the most important parts of the process is hearing from the people the officers serve.
Rob Sofie, one of the evaluators says, "It sends the message, how transparent is the agency within the community? How well known are they within the community? Does the agency agree with their practices? Do they include the community as the undertake their various activities and operations?"
