November 4 is National Nontraditional Student Week and Macon State College is celebrating all week.
Nontraditional students are defined as those who do not enter college immediately after high school, attend college part-time, and raise their own families.
"Nontraditional students can come out with their spouses with their spouses, children, by themselves and really socialize with other adult learners at Macon State," says Assistant Professor Loleta Sartin.
Macon State College started the week off with a tailgate party at Ed Defore Sports Complex to cheer on the Macon State football club as they take on O-C Tech.
"I do feel different. Sometimes I feel excluded. When I first came back there was a group in the cafeteria and we called ourselves misfits. We were a conglomeration of just everybody and they really did include me," says student Paula Lipko.
