A Macon man died Monday morning after getting hit on Interstate 75.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said 51-year-old James Dixon left a night club in Macon with his girlfriend and began walking home down I-75 North, between Mercer University Drive and Eisenhower Parkway.

Jones says when the two tried to cross the median, Dixon was hit by a 2002 Dodge Caravan and knocked into the southbound lane.

Jones said the driver did stop.

Dixon's girlfriend was not hurt.

Drivers saw some traffic delays as investigators shut down two lanes of I-75 southbound.  The road was cleared by 7:30 a.m.
