Baldwin County is one of 50 locations around the country that received a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

That helped launch Live Healthy Baldwin, a coalition of community orginaizations like the Georgia College and State University Center for Health, the City of Milledgeville, and the Milledgeville Community Garden Association.

They're trying to chip away at the obesity problem in their community with several intiatives that improve access to affordable healthy food and increase opportunites for physical activity.

They want to increase the size and scope of school and community gardens, provide healthy after school snacks, make the farmers market affordable and accessible to people on government food benefits, and make Milledgeville a bike-friendly community where middle school kids can walk or bike to school.
